The Nature Project is LIVE!
This summer The Nature Project kicked off their introduction to the outdoor education community with a Seattle event and fundraiser hosted by IslandWood, an award winning leader in outdoor education celebrated for creating transformative outdoor experiences for underserved youth from across the United States.
The evening kicked off with an opening speech by IslandWood CEO and The Nature Project board member, Ben Klasky, in which Ben spoke of the innate power of nature to transform young people, and open their eyes to the wonders of nature.
With nearly one hundred IslandWood community members, supporters and outdoor education advocates in the room, it was no surprise that Ben’s contagious energy and passion pulsed through the room.
Moments later, Seattle Seahawks Tightend (#84) and The Nature Project co-founder, Cooper Helfet, took the stage. Over the course of a ten-minute speech Cooper introduced The Nature Project to the world: Cooper spoke of it’s genesis, mission and fabric, one built upon an intention to create opportunities for kids to get outside; he spoke about the transformative power of a night spend under the starts or a day on the trail, and he spoke about the fateful conversation he had with The Nature Project co-founder, Charles Post, that Spring day in Olympic National Park when they decided to embark on a journey to create an organization committed to creating opportunities for kids to experience nature.
Keep your eyes out for exciting updates about future events and our growing team.
